Customers pre-ordering latest iPad will have to wait

(Reuters) - People pre-ordering Apple Inc's new iPad to avoid the release-day crowds at the company's retail stores will have to wait longer to get their hands on the devices.

The latest version of the company's tablet, which was unveiled this week, is set to hit shelves next Friday.

But tablets pre-ordered online will not ship to buyers until the following Monday, March 19, according to the company's website.

Earlier in the week, Apple had promised the newest tablet would arrive at customers' homes on the launch date.

Trudy Miller, an Apple spokeswoman, said the change was made because customer response to the new iPad had been "off the charts," quickly exhausting the supply set aside for pre-order and delivery by March 16.

Apple's new product releases are some of the hottest events on the tech calendar, scrutinized by investors, the media and industry insiders alike.

To the company's devoted fans, who vie to be the first to own the latest device, a three-day delay would be an eternity and could add to the crowds at the company's retail stores.

In January, enraged Chinese shoppers pelted Apple's flagship Beijing store with eggs and shoving matches broke out with police after customers were told the store would not begin sales of the iPhone 4S as scheduled.

The new iPad sports a crisper display and an array of technology advances and tweaks.

Apple said it will continue to sell the iPad 2 but dropped its price by $100. The older tablet now starts at $399 while the new third-generation wi-fi only iPad starts at $499.

The high-end model of Apple's latest iPad starts at $629 and will be capable of operating on a high-speed 4G "LTE," or Long-Term Evolution, network. At speeds roughly 10 times faster than current 3G technology, that may help banish the sometimes shaky video quality of older devices.

WASHINGTON (AP) ? The raucous Republican presidential contest rolls into the Deep South this week with a pair of suddenly pivotal and tight races in Alabama and Mississippi.

The twin primaries on Tuesday follow a pair of weekend contests in the long, bruising fight to pick an opponent to President Barack Obama this fall. Setting the stage Saturday were Rick Santorum's romp in the Kansas caucuses and front-runner Mitt Romney's win in Wyoming.

Polls show a close race in the two upcoming contests, particularly in Alabama, where Romney, Santorum and Newt Gingrich all added to their TV advertising for the race's closing days.

Gingrich, whose campaign is struggling for survival, can ill afford a loss in either Mississippi or Alabama. Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, is seeking a Southern breakthrough to show he has the ability to win the support of evangelical voters.

Santorum hopes to knock Gingrich out of the contest and finally emerge as Romney's sole challenger from the right. The former Pennsylvania senator lashed out at Obama and Romney simultaneously in a campaign appearance Saturday.

"We already have one president who doesn't tell the truth to the American people," he told voters in Kansas. "We don't need another."

A Gingrich aide has said the former House speaker must win both Southern primaries to justify continuing in the campaign. But Gingrich strongly suggested otherwise on Friday as polls showed a tight contest in Alabama.

"I think there's a fair chance we'll win," he told The Associated Press about the contests in Alabama and Mississippi. "But I just want to set this to rest once and for all. We're going to Tampa," sight of the GOP's national convention this summer.

Romney had no campaign appearances Saturday. He won six of 10 Super Tuesday states earlier in the week.

Final returns in Kansas showed Santorum with 51 percent of the vote, far outpacing Romney, who had 21 percent. Newt Gingrich finished with 14 percent and Ron Paul, the libertarian-leaning Texas congressman, trailed with 13 percent.

Santorum picked up 33 of the state's 40 delegates at stake, cutting slightly into Romney's overwhelming's advantage.

In Wyoming, Romney won seven of the 12 delegates up for grabs, Santorum three, Paul one. One delegate was uncommitted.

The contests in Kansas and Wyoming left Romney with 454 delegates in the AP's count, more than all his rivals combined. Santorum had 217, while Gingrich had 107 and Paul had 47.

Romney's totals included 22 that he picked up in the Virgin Islands, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.

A candidate must win 1,144 to clinch the Republican presidential nomination at the national convention in Tampa next August.

Canada Pharmacy Shows a Unique Cause of Asthma

?

Kids who were exposed to mold during infancy were thrice more vulnerable to develop asthma. Exposure to household mold as infants critically increases a child's risk of getting asthma.? As such, parents need generic Advair to treat such sickness.

Study researchers examined seven years of information gathered from 176 kids who were monitored from babyhood as section of the Cincinnati Childhood Allergy and Air Pollution Study. The kids were identified at high threat of acquiring asthma due to family medical history.

By age 7, 18 percent of the kids acquired asthma.? Kids who lived in houses with mold at some stage in their infancy were thrice more likely to acquire asthma by age 7 compared to those who did not come in contact with mold when they were babies.

"Early life exposure to mold seems to play a critical role in childhood asthma development," lead author Tiina Reponen, a professor of environmental health at the University of Cincinnati, stated in a university news release.

"Genetic factors are also important to consider in asthma risk, since infants whose parents have an allergy or asthma are at the greatest risk of developing asthma." Thus, to buy Advair might be necessary to treat asthma attacks.

"This study should motivate expectant parents, especially if they have a family history of allergy or asthma, to correct water damage and reduce the mold burden in their homes to protect the respiratory health of their children," Reponen added.

In general, about 9 percent of school-aged kids in the United States acquired asthma, but study has exposed that frequencies are above what is usual among kids in poor, urban families.? It is also shown that they visit CanadaDrugsOnline.com more often.

Asthma is defined by the Global Initiative for Asthma as "a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways in which many cells and cellular elements play a role. The chronic inflammation is associated with airway hyperresponsiveness that leads to recurrent episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness and coughing particularly at night or in the early morning. These episodes are usually associated with widespread, but variable airflow obstruction within the lung that is often reversible either spontaneously or with treatment".

Asthma is clinically classified according to the frequency of symptoms, forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), and peak expiratory flow rate. Asthma may also be classified as atopic (extrinsic) or non-atopic (intrinsic), based on whether symptoms are precipitated by allergens (atopic) or not (non-atopic).

While asthma is classified based on severity, at the moment there is no clear method for classifying different subgroups of asthma beyond this system. Finding ways to identify subgroups that respond well to different types of treatments is a current critical goal of asthma research.

Although asthma is a chronic obstructive condition, it is not considered as a part of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease as this term refers specifically to combinations of disease that are irreversible such as bronchiectasis, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema. Unlike these diseases, the airway obstruction in asthma is usually reversible; however, if left untreated, the chronic inflammation from asthma can lead the lungs to become irreversibly obstructed due to airway remodeling. In contrast to emphysema, asthma affects the bronchi, not the alveoli.

The Best Types of Birds for Beginners | Pet News Network | PNN ...

Finches

Finches

There are a lot of options of bird species that it can be overwhelming to choose just one?or a few as pets. It all depends on what you are looking for in a pet bird, the time you can allot to caring for them, and your budget. Pet birds come in a range of sizes, colors, personalities, and price. Some birds require more care and maintenance than others.

Always buy from a reputable bird breeder or bird store. Make sure the birds are healthy, and do some research to find out if you can provide their daily requirements since some may be too much to handle for a beginner.

Common bird species for beginner hobbyists:

Finches ? these birds do not care much for being handled, although they are charming creatures. They are fast, lively, and flashy, and will provide you an entertaining view because they are always twittering. They flourish in a social atmosphere and it is best to keep a pair or more in a cage. They do need plenty of room in their cage to avoid territorial aggression and to stretch their wings. Take note that finches usually fly to where they want to go and they do not climb for exercise.

Budgerigars ? these are also called ?budgies? and are one of the most common choices for a pet bird for beginners. They are almost always available and are not expensive. They are affectionate, have charming personalities, and some can be taught to talk. They also come in a wide range of colors. Budgies can develop a close bond with their human companions, including children. Remember to buy from a reputable breeder since this breed is often mass-produced and birds under those conditions are not as tame and may be more prone to diseases.

Quaker parakeets ? these are usually green and silvery. They are quite active and love to vocalize. Some of them can be easily taught how to talk and whistle various tunes. If they are socialized at a young age, they will not mind being handled. Take note that these birds are illegal in some states because they are considered a threat to local agriculture. Look into the restrictions in your area before deciding to keep them as pets.

Peach-faced lovebirds ? these are active, playful, and beautiful birds. They are usually well-socialized and can develop a strong bond with you. They require daily socialization and will not thrive if left alone in a cage. If you hand-raise them, they will not mind being carried around and will even perch on your shoulder. They are affectionate, not at all loud, and can also be trained to mimic sounds such as words.
